Travel of 594 KM in just six hours: Fighter plane will be able to land on Ganga Expressway, 16 lane toll plaza is being built here
Meerut: The construction work of Ganga Expressway is going on in full swing. Preparations are underway to commission it before the Kumbh Mela. The 594 km long expressway will pass through 518 villages in 12 districts. Starting from Bijauli village on Meerut-Bulandshahr highway, Ganga Expressway will reach near Judapur Dadu village on NH 19 in Prayagraj. The construction of 16 lane toll plaza in Khadkhadi village of Kharkhoda area is in the final stages. Road construction has been done for 15 kilometers in the forest. Currently it is a six-lane expressway, but later it can be widened to eight lanes. Fighter planes will also be able to land easily on this in case of emergency. The journey from Meerut to Prayagraj can be covered in just six hours and the vehicles will run at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour.
Ganga Expressway is also being constructed in 12 phases. This project is estimated to cost Rs 36,000 crore. After Meerut, Ganga Expressway will pass through Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and end at Prayagraj. Not only will vehicles run on the Ganga Expressway, but in case of emergency, big fighter planes and helicopters will also be able to land on it. A 3.50 km long airstrip is being built in Shahjahanpur. Apart from this, two big bridges are also being constructed on rivers Ganga and Ramganga. The Ganga Expressway will also connect other expressways of the state through Lucknow-Agra Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway and Ballia Link Expressway.
The 10 kilometer long section of the main road of the expressway starting from village Bijauli of Kharkhoda in Meerut has been constructed till the forests of villages Bhadhaula, Ataula and Govindpuri. The work on another 10 kilometer long road is in the final stages. Apart from this, the work of laying ballast on the part is going on, while the Bijauli Interchange is also starting to take shape. The work of laying pillars and slaps on the overbridge on National Highway-334 is being done rapidly. Earth filling work has been completed around here, soil is being poured on the ups and downs.
A bridge over the Kali river has been completed in village Atrada, similarly the work of building a big bridge in village Ataula is also in the final stages. At the same time, the work of planting small plants and flower beds in the middle of the divider built in the middle of Ganga Expressway has also started.
Country's third longest expressway
Ganga Expressway is going to be India's third longest expressway in terms of length. The longest expressway currently being built is the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which is more than 1,350 kilometers long. The second longest is the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway which is a little over 700 kilometers long. Anup Singh, Chief General Manager of the construction organization IRB, said that the construction of a 16-lane toll plaza in the forest of Kharkhadi village of Kharkhoda area is in the final stages. This greenfield project will be completed in time. Up to 60 percent work on Meerut-Hapur section has been completed.
